Cheerleading Uniform
Every cheerleading squad, whether its members are 8-year old Pop Warner cheerleaders or 18-year old NFL cheerleaders, need uniforms. They come in all types of different styles, from cropped top to A-line skirts. Here are some cheerleading uniform basics.
Ordering Cheer Uniforms
There are many online catalogs where you can order cheer uniforms. Some have a minimum order requirement and won't sell to individuals. Be sure to check what their policy is; for instance, if you were to buy twelve for a team, but later decide to add two more people, will the company sell you the extra uniforms?
Also, ask the company these questions:
- Is there a charge for longer skirt lengths? You may need them because you don't like the shorter skirt or because you have a taller girl on the squad.
- What is the material? Usually uniforms are made of 100 percent polyester. Those treated with something to make them stain proof last longer.
- How is the construction? Do the uniforms have flexible backs? Is there darting on the busts to make them fit better?
- Is lettering included in the cost?
- Is there a discount if you buy more at once?
Design Your Own
Some companies will let you design your own uniform. For instance, you may need a cropped, sleeveless top in teal with five braids in a V across the front, and a pleated skirt with white on the inside pleats. The company may only sell a teal top without braiding or a no-pleat teal skirt. Customizing the uniform lets you choose the details and colors from a list. You may also be able to provide the company with your own artwork and have them incorporate it in a uniform.
Compare the prices of several different companies, taking into consideration the quality and style they offer. You'll be sure to find what your squad needs.
